Maison & Muse was established in late 2021 to disrupt the overpriced home fragrance category. The luxury candle and diffuser brand was developed by a group of savvy New Zealand women sick of paying too much for beautifully designed, high-quality fragrances which sat as ornaments gathering dust rather than being used due to cost.
The brand of candles, often referred to by fans as 'just as good as the Glasshouse Tahaa candle, for a fraction of the cost', launched exclusively with Countdown Supermarkets in New Zealand in December 2021.
The start-up has seen strong growth and notable success by providing a ‘department store’ offering at a supermarket level, making little luxuries accessible and affordable, which will be replicated in Australia through Maison & Muse's new deal with Woolworths supermarkets.
The multi-million dollar deal will have the candles and diffusers in 999 stores across Australia and online from early April. This will shake up the market across the ditch, with the whole range retailing for AUD 25 with frequent deep promotions.
