NELSON COUNTDOWN HOSTS STORE GRAB

The Nelson Countdown branch has teamed up with the Salvation Army to perform a two-minute grocery grab for those in need.

Salvation Army officer, Mike Goodman was given the job of filling the two trolleys with the help of Nelson store manager Lauren Hobson. Goodman's strategy was to go for products that are not often donated to the charity with his focus on products such as long life milk, pasta, rice and coffee.

"It went a lot quicker than I thought. I was thinking we needed bread, but that wouldn't work when I'm throwing all these boxes in – same thing with eggs." Said Mike Goodman.

Countdown has an on-going relationship with the charity with a number of store grabs going on across the country.
