New World has once again been named Supermarket of the Year in the Roy Morgan New Zealand Customer Satisfaction Awards, taking out the top honour for 2026.
The win marks the second year running New World has been named Roy Morgan Supermarket of the Year, following its 2025 win.
Roy Morgan CEO Michele Levine said New World was the clear winner in the supermarket category in 2026, taking out all four quarterly wins and continuing the lead it’s held in previous years.
“Supermarkets play a central part in the lives of most New Zealanders. New World’s strong performance throughout 2026 reflects consistently high levels of customer satisfaction," said Levine.
"Following last year’s award, this 2026 win confirms New World as the supermarket New Zealanders prefer.”
Deb Fell, Senior Marketing Manager for New World, said the back-to-back win reflects what customers value when they shop at New World. To be recognised as Supermarket of the Year for the second year running was something she was extremely proud of.
"What makes this award particularly meaningful is that it reflects the experiences our customers have in our stores," said Fell.
“It shows us that our focus on quality fresh food, great value, friendly service and a reliable shopping experience is making a real difference to customers.”
Stephanie Browning, Head of New World South Island, added that the recognition was particularly meaningful because it comes from New Zealanders.
“It’s fantastic to be recognised by our customers because their experience is what matters most to us. We’re very grateful that New Zealanders continue to choose New World, and we want to keep giving them plenty of reasons to come back.”
For David Gordon, Head of New World North Island, the award reflects the care that New World owner-operators and their teams put into their stores.
“Every New World is a locally owned business run by an owner who lives in that community. They're close to their customers, they hear what matters to them, and they can make the call themselves to respond to it," said Gordon.
More than 6,000 New Zealanders contributed to the 2026 Roy Morgan New Zealand Customer Satisfaction Awards, rating their satisfaction with brands and service providers across 25 industry categories, including supermarkets.
