Young adults are drinking record numbers of coffee, with 51 percent reporting having some kind of coffee once a day. Since it began reporting, this is the highest recorded number from the USA National Coffee Association. The previous high for young adults was 50 percent, set at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.
Of the respondents to the National Coffee Data Trend Report, 30 percent said they had some form of cold coffee in the last day, and 32 percent said they had a flavoured coffee in the last week. Vanilla was voted the most popular flavour, followed by caramel and mocha.
The number of people drinking coffee out of the home has not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels. Numbers dropped 12 percent from 36 percent in January 2020 and currently sits at 28 percent.
