Nitro coffee is taking the US by storm. Anticipating a shift coming over to Europe, packaging specialist Ardagh Group has recently debuted its new nitro coffee ‘slim can’ in Germany. Each can is able to replicate the infusion process of on-tap coffee, thanks to a nitrogen-filled, in-can capsule that is fixed to the bottom of the can, and is activated when the can is opened.
According to Ardagh’s communications manager, Kendall Griffin, there are a lot of opportunities for brands to take the nitro coffee experience to the home environment, allowing shoppers to indulge in the quality, taste and texture of cold brew coffee. Other beverage categories may follow suit, such as juice and energy drinks.
