Last week, a Countdown store in Sunnynook was forced to close temporarily after strong winds caused its facade to collapse. Due to wild weather, tiles were torn off the front wall and shoppers had to leave the premises without their groceries, for fear of live wires. Nobody was hurt, but witnesses described the scene as ‘surreal’.
The store remained closed for 20 minutes.
