New Zealand Food Safety has supported Smartfoods Limited in its recall of specific batches of Tom & Luke Low Carb Snackaballs Chocolate Coated Cookies & Cream, Raspberry, and Hazelnut flavours due to the possible presence of hard plastic.
"These products should not be eaten. You can return them to the place of purchase for a refund. If that’s not possible, throw it out," said New Zealand Food Safety deputy director-general Vincent Arbuckle.
The affected products are sold at selected retail outlets and supermarkets throughout New Zealand.
The products have been removed from the shelves. They have been exported to Australia.
"As is our usual practice, New Zealand Food Safety will work with Smartfoods Limited to understand how the contamination occurred and prevent its recurrence.”
The Tom & Luke Low Carb Snackaballs product varieties with the following date markings are affected by this recall:
- Cookies & Cream (112g): BB: 11 SEP 2026
- Hazelnut (112g): BB: 03 SEP 2026 and 11 SEP 2026
- Raspberry (112g): BB: 15 SEP 2026, 11 SEP 2026, and 16 OCT 2026.
The products are packed in a plastic pouch. This recall does not affect any other Tom & Luke brand products.
Customers are asked to check the batch and date mark on the products.
Affected products should not be consumed. If you have consumed any of these products and have any concerns about your health, seek medical advice.
Customers should return the products to their retailer for a full refund.
