UK RETAILER Waitrose is testing its hospitality concepts, introducing ‘grazing’ areas and fresh juice bars to its new stores. The grazing areas will be located near the in-store deli and bakery sections and provide consumers with somewhere to sit down while they sample cheese boards and wine. The high-end chain is also looking to double the number of its in-store cafes this year, which would bring the total to more than 200. Waitrose will also be diversifying its non-grocery offering, opening 100 gardening shops outside its stores this spring.
