Aisle Always Love You!
New World Long Bay owner operators, Marcus and Alex (Ally) Te Brake, know that the wedding aisle isn’t the only aisle made for love.
Regular afternoon shoppers at the stylish New World in Long Bay Village were in for an exciting surprise when they were guests of honour as the store rolled out the red carpet and hosted what some might call the ‘wedding of the century’ in its very own aisle four.
Following an off the cuff on-air comment about getting married in a supermarket, local couple Anne and Quintin jumped at the chance to get married at New World Long Bay by More FM Drive co-host Flynny, who's also a registered celebrant.
The blushing bride, complete with a one-of-a-kind produce bouquet made in-store from the freshest in season veg, made her way up the red carpeted aisle and past local shoppers to meet her prince charming to say ‘I Do’ on the More FM Drive show and in front of a crowd of delighted staff and customers.
However, this isn’t the first time love has blossomed at a supermarket, with Marcus and Ally knowing only too well that love can bloom in the aisles and at the checkout.
The couple, who have led the New World Long Bay team since it opened nearly five years ago, met and fell in love in a supermarket when Marcus was working at PAK’nSAVE Kaitaia and Ally was a supplier.
So, when it came to being asked if New World Long Bay would host the wedding, Marcus jumped at the chance.
"Considering we met and fell in love in a supermarket – we were always going to say yes. It was an honour to be able to help another couple celebrate their love in the same setting we found love. It was such a great wedding, the whole team got behind the idea, some even came in on their day off to watch the ceremony, and our customers were super excited to be part of the experience."
