Woolworths New Zealand has announced the appointment of Nicola Gear as Director for Finance, Strategy and Performance.
Gear has more than 20 years of multinational experience across retail, finance, and corporate strategy, having held senior executive roles in the UK, Malaysia, Singapore, and New Zealand.
Originally from Te Kowhai, near Hamilton, Gear has returned home after 18 years living and working abroad. Most recently, she served as Asia-Pacific Finance Transformation Director and Asia-Pacific Finance Director for Inchcape.
"I am incredibly excited to be rejoining the retail sector and returning home to New Zealand," said Gear.
"Retail has a unique energy, pace, and customer focus that I love, and it is wonderful to join an iconic brand like Woolworths.”
Sally Copland, Managing Director, Woolworths NZ, was delighted to have Gear join the executive leadership team.
