AUSTRALIA | The famous Woolies mudcake has entered a new era, with its first-ever gluten-free version hitting shelves this month.
Inspired by the iconic recipe Australians have loved for decades, the new Free From Gluten Chocolate Mudcake delivers a deliciously dense, entirely wheat-free, fudgy chocolate experience for the gluten-free community.
The new arrival has ensured even more family members, friends and co-workers can join in on the celebrations. Unlike limited-edition drops, this latest creation will be a permanent addition to the Woolworths bakery range, available in-store and online for AUD 10.
“We wanted to give more customers the chance to enjoy a Mudcake experience. We needed the right innovation to craft something that looks, feels, and tastes similar to the original,” said Donald Keith, Bakery Merchandise Manager at Woolworths.
“To make this possible, we swapped out the wheat flour for a special blend of gluten-free alternatives designed to hold in the moisture and give the cake its signature fudgy taste.”
The new Free From Gluten Chocolate Mudcake will take its place alongside the classic Chocolate, White Chocolate, and Caramel mudcake range in Woolworths supermarkets and Metro stores across Australia from the 24th of August.
To mark the occasion, Woolworths will also be dropping a limited-edition Mudcake Reusable Shopping Bag. The foldable, compact shopping bag features the signature Woolies chocolate mudcake design and will be available for AUD two from 26 August, while stocks last.
Rhonda Ma, General Manager of Bags at Woolworths, said the mudcake has such a huge following across Australia. Creating a bag was Woolworths’ way of having a bit of fun with that heritage.
“It’s a great little add-on for customers who love the range as much as we do."
