At Cathedral Cove Naturals, the products reflect their philosophy. Their mission is to provide real foods for a modern world, creating natural and honest food products for busy people. We spoke to the team about the direction of the company.

What is your company background, how did you start the business?

“Cathedral Cove Naturals evolved from the Pilkington family’s organic macadamia orchard in Hahei, Coromandel, New Zealand. Founded by Hamish Pilkington in 2000, we are now operating in Auckland, New Zealand in a new purpose built manufacturing facility. We are a team, passionate about real food and healthy living. Our products cater to many dietary requirements such as paleo, vegan, dairy free and gluten free without compromising on flavour. We let our ingredients do the talking, simply real food that will love you back. Our products are free from refined sugars, soy, vegetable oils, additives and preservatives. We believe in only adding ingredients that will serve health. The Cathedral Cove Naturals range is designed to give you and your family vitality, fuelling you with minimally processed foods to nurture your health, well-being and the environment.”

What is the current product range and variants and how do these products stand out in the market?

“Our current product range consists of Coconut Yoghurt, Cereals, Muesli and Coconut Oil. At Cathedral Cove Naturals we believe that less is more, which is why our natural coconut yoghurt is made from only two ingredients, coconut and probiotic cultures. Our flavoured yoghurts are made from real food ingredients and we only use a touch of coconut sugar to sweeten them, keeping them under 4 per cent total sugars. These factors make our coconut yoghurt an amazing food to promote good health as it feeds the good bacteria in the gut, and provide healthy and satiating fats from the coconut cream. Our Super Cereals are incredibly nutritious especially when paired with our Coconut Yoghurt. Full of quality nuts, seeds and dried fruit, they are all gluten free, refined sugar free and free of any preservatives or nasties.”

Has there been any recent company news?

“We have recently launched a new range of coconut yoghurt in a smaller 210g glass jar. Perfect for smaller families, individuals or for people to take to work or have on the run. We have also just launched our Mango, Passionfruit and Chia Coconut Yoghurt, which we think is our most delicious yet. As we continue to grow we have exciting plans for the future and we are currently working on some new product development.”

Where are your products currently available to buy, and are you looking at or wanting to expand your availability? If so, where would you like to see the product situated?

“Our distribution is constantly growing throughout New Zealand. Our products are available in most New World, Pak’N’Save and Countdown supermarkets nationwide as well as many independent retailers.”
