Acorn Group has expanded the footprint of Jarritos, the iconic and most popular soft drink brand in Mexico, to retail outlets in New Zealand.
Bottled in Mexico, Jarritos has captured the colours, vibrancy and palate-tingling tastes of a Mexican festival.
With their bold colours and vintage shape, its proprietary glass bottles have become instantly recognisable on the shelf. These sparkling drinks, with their big flavours and bright tastes, have made a similar impression on the palate.
Acorn has New Zealand distribution rights for this internationally popular brand, which has been available in the country for over a decade. The team at Acorn looked forward to expanding the distribution footprint so that more Kiwis could enjoy this global brand every day.
The brand was launched in 1950 and captured the local market before exporting to the USA in 1986. The drinks were so vibrant that initially, Jarritos didn’t label the bottles, letting the colours speak for themselves. The brand is now sold in 42 countries.
“Jarritos is a leading international brand, with a range of distinctive and authentic tastes all created using natural fruit flavours and cane sugar,” said Acorn General Manager Elliot Keys.
“Our initial sampling has proven its strong appeal to Kiwi palates. We think that Jarritos’ great taste and wildly popular street merchandise combined with Acorn’s extensive New Zealand distribution capabilities mean that the brand has a great future in this market.”
Javier Prado of Jarritos brand owner Novamex added that Jarritos had proven its popularity in various countries and has remained a 100 percent export brand.
“With Acorn’s assistance we aim to let Kiwis add a little a dose of happiness to everyday occasions by making our unique sodas more widely available,” said Prado.
Acorn Group will distribute Jarritos in supermarkets, dairy stores, petrol stations, food service outlets, and on-premise outlets throughout New Zealand.
Six natural tropical flavours—lime, pineapple, mango, guava, and mandarin—plus the hero SKU cola will initially be available. All have been made with cane sugar, light carbonation, and no caffeine and sold in iconic Jarritos 370ml bottles. The exception to the caffeine is the cola, which offers a moderate caffeine kick.
Trade customers can buy Jarritos in cartons of 24, and Acorn Group has planned to introduce multi-packs (four bottles in a cardboard sleeve) in 2025.
