The USA’s first tearless onions, Sunions, have returned to supermarket shelves. The seasonal brand is grown in Nevada, Washington and Utah using a natural cross-breeding programme. Once Sunions are harvested, they are stored under a controlled flavour protocol until reaching maximum tearlessness and flavour. They are a product of 30 years of research and development.
“Sunions are a rare product in that they become more tearless and sweeter the longer they store. They undergo triple testing to ensure quality and are not released until they are in prime condition,” said Kaitlyn O’Neal, Regional Crop Lead for Sunions.
Sunions are sold across a number of major supermarkets including Aldi, Costco, Kroger, Walmart, Publix and Whole Foods.
