Protecting Percy Pig

Marks and Spencers

M&S is taking sweetmaker Swizzles to court in the UK for copying its iconic own brand, Percy Pig. The company seeks damages and an injunction against Swizzles’ Pigs Mugs, as they claim the products are highly similar and easily confuse customers.

Percy Pigs have generated a £131.7 million turnover since their launch in 1993, and Swizzles has been selling its Pigs Mugs since 1996.

An M&S spokesperson said the company has a proud history as a leading British innovator and has made significant investments in building a strong Percy Pig Brand.

Last year, M&S also took Aldi to court over its Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake for being too similar to its Colin the Caterpillar cake.
