UK Supermarket Tesco launched its presence on the social media platform TikTok with a competition for customers to become the newest voice of its self-checkouts.
The company’s first and only TikTok video announcing the competition has had 8.4 million views and 208,000 likes. To enter the competition, customers need to duet the video and record themselves saying “unexpected item in the bagging area” and “Clubcard accepted.”
Other supermarkets Aldi and Coop, have jumped in on the competition with their own social media accounts dueting the video.
The Tesco TikTok account has 101,500 followers after three days.
