TIDE PACKAGING SPARKS CONCERNS FOR YOUNG CONSUMERS SAFETY

Tides new design for their laundry detergent packaging has caused concern for potentially accidental consumers.

The new design uses 60 per cent less plastic than their previous editions and has been designed to reduce environmental impact during the production and shipping process. However, many appear concerned at the packaging’s design. The new box features a twist-to-open spout and bears a strange resemblance to boxed wine.

This release follows the confusing ‘tide-pod-craze’ that swept over the internet in early 2018, where young social-media figures made jokes and videos of consuming the highly toxic tide pods. Given the correlation, and the designs similarities to boxed wine, many have speculated as to the next chapter of the internet craze, and if this change will give way to a new wave of crazy online shenanigans.
