Walmart has announced that starting this May it will be stocking reusable bags for sale at checkouts across the United States. The news comes after Walmart revealed its goal of making its packaging 100 percent recyclable, reusable or industry compostable by 2025. The news was announced at the company’s Global Sustainability Milestone Meeting. During the meeting, Walmart also publicized the progress that it has made towards being powered by a 100 percent renewable energy. So far, the company has signed 136 solar and wind contracts that provide an estimated 2.14 billion kilowatt hours of energy.
