New Zealand designer, Sunita Ly has won a crowdsourced competition which will see her kiwi-inspired designs showcased on all four Meadow Mushrooms pre-packed punnets this summer. The competition invited designers and mushroom fans to share their take on the heavenly super-foods place in the Kiwi summer by creating the new Summer Inspiration Labels.

Earlier this year Meadow Mushrooms announced the design competition which gave entrants the opportunity to create new labels for pre-packed punnets of large Portabello, small Portabello, white button and Swiss brown button mushrooms. The crowd-sourced competition was open to both established artist and up-coming designers.

The Meadow Mushrooms team selected four finalists, and then it was the mushroom lovers chance to cast a final vote on social media. Ly’s designs were a clear favourite, with the Kiwi designer receiving 51 percent of the votes.

“As a family owned business, at Meadow Mushrooms we see mushroom lovers as a part of our extended family and actively look for opportunities to foster a sense of community around this much-loved superfood,” said John Barnes, Meadow Mushrooms chief executive.

“With the Kiwi summer conjuring up thoughts of hot sandy beaches, sizzling barbeques and festive season get-togethers, and Meadow Mushrooms inspiring thoughts of delicious mushroom-based burgers, kebabs, and salads, it’s great to see this come to life on our labels. We know the winning design will be well received around New Zealand because our customers chose them.”

The winning pack designs will be available in leading supermarkets around the country as from November 2018.
