Lion NZ has announced the acquisition of Panhead Custom Ales, effective June 1. The craft beer company will continue as a standalone business unit, under the direction of its founder Mike Neilson and manager Josh Drake.
“The chance to have Panhead’s future supercharged by a merger with the big boys was too good to pass up. Anywhere in the country will be able to experience our beer,” said Neilson.
Rory Glass, managing director, Lion New Zealand, emphasised that Lion has no intention of changing Panhead’s winning formula. “It is a phenomenally successful brewery, with a fantastic range of award-winning beers, and some big growth aspirations. Our investment will free Mike and the Panhead team to do what they do best: brew great beer.”
