UK brand Good Hemp has added to their range of hemp-based products with a dairy alternative. The fortified hemp milk is suitable for vegans and the lactose-intolerant, and is enriched with calcium, vitamin B12, and vitamin D - everything dairy milk provides that hemp doesn't. It's also rich in omega 3 and protein.

Unlike some other milk alternatives, hemp milk doesn't split when added to hot drinks. The chilled milks have been launched in both unsweetened and original varieties, and are chilled. Good Hemp's other products are currently all ambient: seeds, oil, and protein powder.

Braham and Murray (owner of the Good Hemp brand) managing director David Shaw was pleased to announce the addition of the hemp milks. “We believe they will be a popular choice for consumers looking for allergen-free, plant-based products with strong nutritional and environmental benefits," he commented. “The launch capitalises on the increasing consumer trend towards healthy plant-based foods which combine these nutritional benefits with environmental credentials.”

On its own, hemp is experiencing a surge in use. It's one of the most sustainable plants on Earth: it's carbon neutral, breathing in four times the amount of carbon dioxide than trees; it doesn't require pesticides or herbicides to grow; and it provides a good habitat for wildlife, especially bees.
