The competition is heating up for the title of Foodstuffs North Island Checker of the Year, which will be announced at the company’s Excellence Awards on 26 November.
Throughout the months of June and July, hundreds of checkout operators will take part in ten different regional competitions.
Over 50 competitors from Hawke’s Bay Pak’nSave and New World supermarkets were judged this week on their accuracy, customer service, presentation and speed while scanning 30 items. The three finalists were Monique Merton and Jess Stewart (NW Greenmeadows), and Josh Winnie from NW Onekawa. Each of the top twelve checkers received a $50 gift card, and the best support team and best team of checkers were also awarded.
Last week, Manawatu stores’ staff put their skills to test as well, with Megan McKenzie (NW Levin), Samantha Neemia (NW Pioneer) and Ashley Hurunui (NW Levin) being named finalists.
