Every three hours, a Kiwi man dies from a potentially preventable illness, and this rate doubles for Maori men, who are also three times more likely to develop diabetes.
From June 13 to 19, Blackmores and Unichem, among others, are supporting Men’s Health Week to encourage New Zealand blokes to find out their Men’s Health Score at www.menshealthweek.co.nz. Throughout the whole month of June, men can get a free ‘pit stop check’ at their local Unichem or Life Pharmacy.
Diabetes is currently NZ’s biggest medical threat, with 40 New Zealanders being diagnosed with it every day, 90 percent of which could be prevented or delayed by quitting smoking, eating healthier food or exercising 30 minutes a day.
