René Dedoncker

Dairy co-operative Fonterra Australia has appointed former acting managing director of Global Brands and Nutrition, René Dedoncker, as its new managing director. Dedoncker, who started working with Fonterra in 2005, has 20 years’ experience in dairy and FMCG. In the meantime, the company has also promoted its former Oceania managing director, Judith Swales, to chief operating office of Velocity and Innovation. According to Swales, Dedoncker was the best choice for the role of managing director, due to its strategic agility and leadership style.
To stay ahead of the game, Fonterra Australia has also introduced a brand-new Global Consumer and Foodservice business unit led by Jacqueline Chow, which will manage eight key international markets.
“Jacqueline has been instrumental in driving our transformation agenda and has been clear about her intention to retire from executive life at some point in the future. Before she does, our co-op stands to benefit greatly from her wealth of consumer and business experience as she creates our world class consumer and foodservice business unit,” said Theo Spierings, chief executive of Fonterra. Former group director of Cooperative Affairs, Miles Hurrell, has now moved to chief operating officer Farm Source.
