NEW ADDITION TO THE BLUE TICK’S FAMILY

Family-owned and operated farm Ewing Poultry has now become SPCA Blue Tick-approved for its free-range and barn eggs, meaning the company meets SPCA’s stringent high animal welfare standards.

Ewing Poultry was founded in 1981 by Lloyd and Gwen Ewing, who in 2004 changed their method of producing eggs from caged to free-range.

“Our priority is to the welfare of our hens, and our ongoing commitment is to give them the best conditions possible and provide our customers with high-quality, tasty eggs,” said general manager Paul Ewing. “By moving forward to a sustainable future, we researched European standards for free-range and barn systems, and we found within New Zealand the SPCA Blue Tick ® is in keeping with the high EU standards and our own philosophy of high animal welfare standards.”
