SINGAPOREANS TO SAVOUR NZ SORBETTO

NZ ice cream company Carrello del Gelato has scored its first export order, going on sale in Singapore’s leading and oldest supermarket chain, Cold Storage. Product consignments to Cold Storage will occur on a monthly basis, with the first 3,000 stock units being on their way to Asia. The brand’s Sorbetto will also feature at this year’s ‘Taste New Zealand – Cold Storage Food Fair’, to be held in Singapore from May 23 to 29.

“This is as important milestone for the company,” said Nathan Meyer, chief executive, Carrello del Gelato. Non-dairy, gluten-free, 99 percent fat-free and made with real fruit, the Sorbetto range is set to meet a growing demand for healthy food choices.

“The Taste New Zealand – Cold Storage Food Fair and in-store promotions provide the ideal opportunity to establish our brand in affluent Singapore. Given our relationship with Cold Storage, we plan to focus on growing the Singapore market this year before looking further afield in Asia,” said Meyer.

Established in 1903, Cold Stores accounts for 48 stores across the island and 19 outlets in Malaysia.
