Fonterra has officially opened its slice-on-slice cheese expansion at Eltham in the presence of farmers, government representatives and staff. Two new lines have been installed doubling the site’s production capacity, which will now be able to manufacture enough cheese to fill over three billion burgers worldwide every year. Moreover, according to Robert Spurway, managing director of global operations, Fonterra, thanks to this additional capacity the dairy co-op will be able to meet more than 350 different product specifications, supporting growth in foodservice and keeping up with increasing international demand.
