Mangere Food Bank Robbed

BBM Mangere food share recieves support from PAK’nSAVE Manukau and Māngere, and Foodstuffs NI Landing Drive office

The ButtaBean Motivation Food Bank in Mangere was robbed on Sunday, October 16. Thieves cleared out the food share’s cool room and freezers and took a number of food boxes. Meat products seemed to be the targeted items.

The alarm was set off, and police were notified of a burglary around 4:40 pm. Dave ‘Buttabean’ Letele, CEO of Buttabean Motivation and the Food bank, took to Instagram to share the news with his community.

I can’t believe people would break into our BBM food share and steal from us. We will now be installing security cameras along with our monitored alarm. The tragic thing is, if you turned up tomorrow, we never turn anyone away. We would have given it if you had come in and asked.” said Letele online.

“I’m not angry, I’m hurt.”

Letele has said he is grateful for the community donations that mean they will be able to replenish some of the stolen stock, but he still feels sick that someone has stolen from a charity. He suggested the thieves were likely to be people he had helped in the past and knew the BBM location well.
