Krishna Spices N Food is recalling a specific batch of its Masoor Daal as the product may contain foreign matter, a tablet containing mercury.
The recalled batch has the best-before date of August 2025.
Sold in 500g and 1kg plastic bags, the Masoor Daal is imported from India and sold at Krishna Spices N Food, 95 Main Street, Upper Hutt, Wellington. This recall does not affect any other Krishna Spices N' Food products.
Customers are encouraged to check the date mark on the product.
Affected products should not be consumed. There have been no reports of associated illness. However, if the product has been consumed and individuals have any concerns about their health, seek medical advice.
High levels of mercury are harmful to the nervous system, immune system and kidneys and can interfere with reproduction and development. People should consult their doctor if they are concerned that they may have been exposed to mercury.
Customers should return the product to Krishna Spices N Food for a full refund.
