MORRISIONS SUPERMAKRET HAS SWITCHED TO PAPER

Morrisons UK is set to start offering paper bags to its customers as part of its effort to remove plastic. The change was announced following an eight-week trial during which customers embraced the removal of plastic bags for paper bags.

The new bags are sourced from Wales and made using sustainably managed forests. The bags will cost 20p and can hold 16kg of weight.

“We’re taking another meaningful step that will remove an estimated 1,300 tonnes of plastic out of the environment each year. Our customers have told us that reducing plastic is their number-one environmental concern. So introducing the paper bag across the nation will provide another way of reducing the plastic in their lives,” commented Andy Atkinson, group customer and marketing director.
