Peanut Boss lands 28 years in prison

FORMER Peanut corporation of America owner, 61 year old  Stewart Parnell has landed 28 years in prison for his company being responsible for a peanut butter product that spawned a deadly outbreak of salmonella poisoning that killed nine people and affected 714 other consumers. It is the harshest criminal penalty ever for a US food producer in a food-borne illness case. It is virtually a life sentence for Parnell but he did escape the maximum possible punishment of 803 years.
