Windmills in green field

Major British retailer Tesco has committed to a green electricity project. The project is the next phase in the retailer’s mission to use 100 percent renewable energy across the Tesco Group by 2030.

The green electricity will be sourced directly from wind farms, solar farms and solar panels fitted to 187 Tesco stores across the UK. The move is set to save 90,000 tonnes of CO2 annually and create 400 new employment opportunities in the UK renewables industry.

“Our supply chain and long-term business sustainability depend on the health of the natural environment,” said Jason Tarry ROI CEO at Tesco UK. “This project represents a major milestone in our journey to using 100 per cent renewable electricity by 2030.”
