Cargill, a global leader in agriculture, has launched the Cargill SustainConnect programme in Australia, aimed at empowering canola growers to access new markets while promoting sustainability. Building on a successful pilot program in 2023, this initiative aligns with Cargill's commitment to sustainable farming practices worldwide.

The program offers Australian canola growers new revenue streams and assists Cargill in meeting the increasing demand for sustainable canola from domestic and international customers. By integrating sustainable agriculture practices, the program enhances soil health, reduces emissions and provides financial incentives for positive environmental outcomes.

Cargill SustainConnect provides growers with various sustainable practices, including nutrient management interventions, reduced tillage, and crop residue retention. Cargill has partnered with Regrow, a leading carbon measurement business, to measure, report, and verify carbon outcomes using advanced technology and data analysis to ensure transparency and accuracy.

Through Cargill SustainConnect, growers receive financial compensation for implementing sustainable practices and gaining access to environmental markets and sustainable supply chains. Cargill assists growers in implementing chosen interventions and shares data from their activities, ensuring compliance and transparency throughout the process.

Currently available to canola farmers in several Australian states, including New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and Victoria, the program aims to expand to Western Australia. Cargill is also exploring extending the program to other grains, with barley pilots already underway.

Cargill's commitment to sustainable agriculture is evident in its efforts to support farmers in transitioning to more environmentally friendly practices while meeting the demands of a rapidly changing market. Through initiatives like Cargill SustainConnect, the company continues to drive positive change within the agricultural industry.
