Inner Bloom x ’73 Citrus

Inner Bloom x ’73 Citrus

What’s better than a cup of coffee and an OJ in the morning? Both in the same can.

The price of coffee has recently skyrocketed. In response, two local Kiwi startups have taken an innovative approach to keep the price of java down with their all-new cold brew concoction.

Inner Bloom cold-brew coffee and ’73 Citrus, sparkling OJ, have collaborated to create what many have been calling a world first: cold-brew coffee and orange juice in one can.

Together, these two startups took on the billion-dollar beverage industry with a revolutionary collaboration that no one ever thought to ask for.

“We played around with a lot of different versions, coffee added to OJ and also OJ added to coffee,” said James Crow of '73 Citrus.

“When they both wound up tasting the same, we figured we’d nailed it, and the taste is something else.”

With the cost of green coffee beans set to double in the coming year, Inner Bloom founder Ollie Puddick knew he needed to innovate, but he did not expect what happened next.

“I wasn’t really sure our functional cold brew coffee would taste very good with sparkling orange juice, but the ’73 guys seemed really excited, so I just let it happen,” said Puddick.

When asked if the setback has changed their view on innovation, Crow added that the duo was already talking with some drinking vinegar and sheep milk brands for next year.

Though the duo's expected initial rush of sales has not materialised, they remain undeterred about the future of innovation in New Zealand.
