ISM, the leading trade fair for sweets and snacks worldwide, is offering a tasteful event programme from 27 to 30 January 2019. In addition to the latest products presented by the exhibitors, lectures, workshops and shows will turn the International Sweets & Biscuits Fair into a true experience for the trade visitors.
A high number of exhibitors and trade visitors are expected to attend ISM 2019 again. In addition to snacks, ice cream and chocolate, biscuits and confectionery will also be presented. Hot beverages such as coffee, tea and cocoa can't be missing wherever chocolate and biscuits can be found. The visitors will have the unique opportunity to sample and order specialities in the Cologne Coffee Forum in Hall 5.2. The barista and trainer, Fabio de Nittis, will be giving tips on the themes coffee, fully-automatic coffee machines and consumption in the scope of several lectures and workshops.

Furthermore, the ISM Award will be conferred for the sixth time this year. The winner will be honoured for outstanding services to the sweets and snacks industry at the gala evening on January 27th, 2019. Last year, Dylan Lauren won the award for her innovative "Dylan's Candy Store" concept.
The trade visitors can admire new products that have been developed since ISM 2018 in the scope of the special exhibition, the New Product Showcase, presented in 130 display windows in Hall 2.2. In addition, the three most innovative products of ISM 2019 that were distinguished during the award ceremony of the ISM Award will be presented here. Not only the contents, but also the packaging plays an important role: The ISM Packaging Award powered by ProSweets Cologne will be awarded for the most innovative form of packaging together with the top three innovations of the New Product Showcase.
The trade fair visitors can experience sweets being manufactured live on the new show stage Sweet Kitchen@ISM. At 2:00 p.m. from Sunday to Tuesday, Daniela Sepp will be presenting how macaroons are made during the show baking. The lady from Munich, who founded the Principessa's manufacturing company in 2011, specialises in gluten-free culinary delights. In a Candy Show by the internationally renowned CiuCiu bonbon manufacturing company, the founder Florian Belgard will be demonstrating close up how sweets such as candy and lollies are made. He will also provide information on the production, history and processing of sugar. The Candy Show is being held daily at 10:00 a.m., 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. from Sunday to Tuesday and at 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Trend Court@ISM in Hall 5.2. is dedicated to the theme trends within the sweets industry. Different accents will be set in the three sections. New product trends and developments within the industry will be presented as part of a special exhibition under the focus "Sweet Trends presented by Innova Market Insights". "The Top Ten Trends for 2019" will be presented daily on the Expert Stage from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. The Expert Stage is additionally the place for an exchange of knowledge and information. From Sunday to Tuesday, the themes "Snacks as a wholesome (in-between) meal" (2:00 p.m.), "Success strategies for the global chocolate market" (3:00 p.m.) and "A sweet discovery" (4:00 p.m.) will be discussed. On Sunday, 27.01.2019 a further lecture on the theme "Digitalisation of the Point of Sale" will take place and at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Anne-Lisa Weinand will be talking about "#stayknackig - online shopping was yesterday, social shopping is tomorrow."
What's more, in the Trend Court@ISM, 17 companies that were founded no longer than five years ago, will present their innovations in the Start-up Area, also in Hall 5.2. On Wednesday, 30.01.2019, the Start-up Pitches will take place on the ISM Expert Stage from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., here young companies will present their products and concepts in brief lectures lasting a maximum of five minutes. This gives the industry members the opportunity to get to know the latest developments and industry newcomers in the shortest space of time. Those who are curious should drop by the ISM Newcomer Area in Hall 11.1, where the new industry participants will be exhibiting at their stands.

Halal is gaining increased significance within the food trade. Hence, there is going to be a Halal Infopoint again this year, located on the Central Boulevard in front of Hall 4.2. It serves as the contact point for visitors, who would like to gain an overview of Halal-related trends, products and themes. Manufacturers of Halal sweets and snacks will present their products here.
The visitors can gain an overview of the industry's current themes during the Guided Tours. During Tour 1, ISM facts and highlights will be presented, whilst Tour 2 focuses on the latest snack trends. The visitors can learn about the reformulation possibilities for sweets and snacks in Tour 3. Tour 4 is the right choice for people interested in Halal products. Here the latest trends and developments will be presented. The tours are scheduled on various different dates.

Companies exhibiting at ISM for the first time will be in the ISM Newcomer Area in Hall 11.1. A total of 13 exhibitors present their products in this area to the general public.
