Entrance Experience Optimised At New World Queenstown

Front-of-store space is some of the most valuable per square metre real estate in retail.

Gates such as the SigmaGate are installed to guide customers safely into the store, create clear entry paths, and support loss prevention without disrupting the shopping experience.

By replacing traditional swing gate systems that require more room to operate, SigmaGate reduces the overall footprint needed at the entrance. These gates already provide value on their own through improved customer flow, a more organised entry zone, and a strong first impression.

New World Queenstown, already benefiting from this efficient use of space, has now expanded on this foundation by integrating digital signage screens directly into its existing SigmaGate units.

The screens function as an optimisation to the gates rather than a replacement. They add communication capabilities while preserving the original purpose and benefits of the physical structure. This creates a smarter use of limited entry space and keeps the area clean, guided, and efficient.

New World Queenstown is the first store in the country to install signage screens built into SigmaGate, following the successful launch of the concept in Australia. Two screens were fitted on the entry-facing sides, becoming the first visual element customers see as they enter. Because the screens are fully built into the gate body, they do not add clutter or require any additional fixtures. They simply enhance the entrance without taking up more floor space.

Raymond Casey, General Manager of Radford Retail, explained that installation was fast and completed without affecting customers or staff.
