Aldi Fresh Chicken Changes

Aldi Fresh Chicken Changes

UK | Aldi has made a change to its fresh chicken as part of its ongoing commitment to animal welfare.

From Wednesday, the 30th of October, shoppers will notice new packaging highlighting higher welfare for all fresh chicken sold at Aldi.

The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket has introduced new stocking density requirements for its fresh chicken, improving its quality of life.

This means that fresh chickens from Aldi, all sourced from British farms, now have 20 percent more space than the industry standard.

“Animal welfare is of paramount importance to us, and we’ve been working hard with our suppliers to reduce stocking density to help us improve the welfare conditions for chickens," said Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK.

“We’re already one of the UK’s largest providers of chicken and we’re proud that from next week, we can offer our customers access to higher welfare chicken at our unbeatable Aldi value.”

The launch followed Aldi’s recent announcement that it met its commitment to sell 100 percent cage-free eggs more than a year ahead of schedule.

Not only this, but all of Aldi’s eggs are also British Lion Code-approved. According to the latest data from Kantar, the supermarket now sells more British free-range eggs than any other UK supermarket.
