A2 MILK LAUNCHES IN VIETNAM

Vietnamese dairy milk company, Vinamilk has launched the first A2 milk product in Vietnam. The milk is produced from A2 dairy cows which have been imported from New Zealand.

Unlike its counterpart A1 milk, A2 milk contains a particular form of A2 beta-casein protein which is said to be easier to digest and better for you. Primary sold in Australia, New Zealand, China and the US; the A1 proteins are considered by some to be harmful. However, the European Food Safety Authority has concluded that there is insufficient evidence for this claim.

Arriving in the country in early June of this year, Vinamilk imported nearly 200 cows from New Zealand. The company aims to have more than 1000 cows by 2019 in an effort to meet the growing consumer demand for their products.

Vinamilk is the country’s most valuable brand, topping Forbes Vietnam’s list for the third year in a row. The company has more than 13 factories spread throughout the county, producing more than 8 billion products annually and holding more than 50 per cent of the country’s dairy market share. It is estimated that Vinamilk is worth $2.28 billion.

The A2 milk products will be available for consumption in both UHT milk and pasteurised milk formats.
