Canadian Convenience Innovation

KaleMart24 is the Canadian convenience store that wants to reinvent the traditional industry model. The company is about to open its first store in Montreal, focusing on healthier foods.

As consumers become more conscious about their health and making good food choices, convenience stores have remained centred around quick, easy and often unhealthy items. In 2022 the organic food market grew 7.1 percent, and this is something KaleMart24 wants to explore.

Breaking the mould of traditional junk food offerings, KaleMart24 will cater for mobile and savvy younger generations. With a strong loyalty programme, self-checkouts, contactless payments and 24/7 shopping, the chain wants to become the ‘Whole Foods of convenience stores.’

Oussama (Sam) Saoudi, the company’s CEO and director has said that he plans to open the first five stores within the next twelve months. Three in Toronto and two in Montreal. He hopes to have 30 stores by 2025.

Saoudi is no stranger to the better-for-you grocery movement and is the founder of Montreal-based Toro Beverages, which introduced Canada’s first matcha-powered energy drink.
