Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi have invested an undisclosed amount in plant-based ‘cheese’ company Miyoko’s Creamery.
The investment was done in a bid to fund the vegan ‘cheese’ company’s efforts to release new products in 2020, including new nut-free cheeses in meltable flavours like American, cheddar, Jack and a cultured oat-based vegan butter.
“Being kind to one another is not just about people, it extends to animals as well,” said DeGeneres. “Portia and I have been customers of Miyoko’s Creamery for several years now and [its] cheeses and vegan butter have become staples in our home. As we learned more about the mission behind the products and about [founder] Miyoko [Schinner] herself, we knew this was a special and exciting company that we wanted to support.”
The high-profile investment is fresh off the heels of the company’s announcement of a potential partnership with a dairy farm in California, to help it transition into a plant-based facility.
