FUNCTIONAL SPARKLING WATER

FUNCTIONAL SPARKLING WATER

Co-founder of oat milk brand Oatly, Björn Öste has partnered with food technologist Dr Östman to create Good Idea – a flavoured sparkling water containing five amino acids and chromium. The beverage, when consumed with food, reduces up to 25 percent of the body’s blood sugar uptake from the meal. Good Idea has three natural fruit and berry flavours available; lime-lemon, orange-mango and dragonfruit.

The beverage was made after extensive food research in hopes to develop functional drinks with a range of clinically proven health benefits, with a focus on the metabolic system. The brand’s philosophy is to strive to prevent lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, obesity and metabolic syndrome. While the health benefits of the drink are the focus, Good Idea also highlighted the importance of good taste. Öste said if the product doesn’t taste good, people won’t be interested in it, and it doesn’t matter how functional a beverage is or what it delivers, no one will enjoy functional drinks if they don’t also taste great.

Sparkling water is a crowded and competitive space on supermarket shelves, but Good Idea is confident its beverage stands out with its functionality and efficiency. While the company is still in the early stages, it looks forward to providing more functional foods and beverages that deliver proper health benefits in the future - catering for the ever increasingly health-conscious population of modern consumers.
