WELL known French producer BIC is to close its small Auckland factory making ballpoint pens and relocate the manufacturing to South Africa. Around 19 production jobs would be lost at the Mt Eden plant when it closes early next year. The company’s marketing and sales operation would continue in a market where it turned over around $20m last year.
