ECO-FRIENDLY NAPPIES NOW ON SHELF

Eco-friendly diapers

Countdown supermarket shelves now stock its latest addition to its diaper range - eco-friendly nappies with cloth, reusable and compostable options.

The expansion of the line is in efforts to provide a more extensive selection of diapers to parents and caregivers in New Zealand and coincides with the company’s broader goal of reducing carbon emission.

Despite only eight percent of the market advocating for ‘cloth nappies’ the company believes that the accessibility and affordability of the line will appeal to more eco-conscious shoppers.

“Nappies are an essential for families for at least a few years of their children’s lives, so we know having more sustainable choices will be a great addition to our nappy range,” said Countdown’s Kiri Hannifin, general manager of corporate affairs and safety and sustainability. “Swapping out a disposable nappy for a reusable alternative, even just a few times a week, can have a huge impact on the amount of waste a household generates.”

Countdown’s newest line of eco-friendly diapers features reusable cloth options from UK-based Bambino Mio and local brand Little Genie, as well as a compostable version from Little & Brave in select stores.
