A new 3,500 sqm Countdown supermarket is set to open in Blenheim next April. The state-of-the-art store is twice the size of the existing Countdown, and will feature a seafood counter, bakery and service deli, as well as a wider range of products and more energy efficient refrigeration and heating systems.
The existing supermarket, which will be converted into retail stores, currently employs 59 staff and will remain open until the new one is completed. Additional staff will also be hired to bring the number up to around 90.
