The new-look Countdown Mt Eden store is now ready, just before Christmas, boasting additional 1,350 sqm, more car parks and special trolleys with coffee cup holders.
Mt Eden customers have been strolling its aisles since the 1970s, but as the community had grown and changed over the years, it was time for a facelift. Among the latest features is a dedicated space near the front of the store for popular products like milk and bread.
“We have two schools close by, so we get a lot of parents popping in to quickly grab a few products during pick-up and drop-off, which is why we set up space at the front of the store for popular items such as bread and milk,” said store manager Wiebe van der Veen. “It’s a really simple change, but one which our customers who are in a rush will love. We have also increased our parking to ease congestion.”
Additionally, the refurbished supermarket offers a wider product range, in-house butchers who can cut specific meat on request, a fish specialist, two new food experts and a wine specialist. The fresh section includes a new sushi-making counter, while the expanded health food section has over 750 items. Lastly, the in-store pharmacy has $3 standard prescriptions and longer hours.
