‘BUY LOCAL’ CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED IN DANNEVIRKE STORE

A ‘buy local’ campaign promoting locally-produced artisan products has been launched at New World Dannevirke by the Tararua Business Network. “We recognised that with great soils and water, combined with the entrepreneurial talent in our district, the time was right to launch a new initiative," said Louise Cooper of the Tararua Business Network.

According to Cooper, the ‘buy local’ initiative is a NZ-first and gives local artisans a great opportunity to sell their produce and tell their story. “We’ve quite a few artisan products here in Tararua and we’d like to hear from other producers as we work on a ‘buy local’ section in New World.”

The first product to be showcased will be sheep cheese from Woodville’s Wild Bush Cheese, produced in a small shed with only 20 to 50 sheep. Cheesemaker Kirsty Silvester will present her products in-store on Thursday.
