New Owners For Invercargill Supermarket

Invercargill

Braedan and Rebecca Trompetter have been settling into life in Invercargill after taking over as the new owner and operator of New World Elles Road.

After moving from Dunedin in July, where they worked at New World City Centre for 13 years, the new owners and their two young children were excited about what Southland offered.

“Going from a store in the middle of the centre of Dunedin’s CBD to one in the close-knit community of Invercargill is going to be a big change, but it’s a change we’re excited for,” said Braeden Trompetter.

“We’ve been looking for our next challenge for a while, so when the opportunity came up at Elles Road, we jumped at it. We’re extremely fortunate to have an opportunity in a store with an amazing team and loyal customer base.”

Braedan Trompetter has a wealth of experience running supermarkets, having switched from the supplier side of the industry more than 13 years ago.

“I was working as a Sales Representative for Coca-Cola Amatil and became interested in retailing. The more I learnt about Foodstuffs, the more I wanted to get involved.”

At the same time, Rebecca has handled the business's recruitment, HR, and community sponsorship parts.

For Braedan and Rebecca, it has been all about community. They were excited to take over the Elles Road store from the previous owner, Bradley, who had done a great job supporting the community. They wanted to keep building on that and get to know the community personally.

“Foodstuffs is an amazing company to be a part of. It’s pretty incredible the amount of support and expertise on hand to support us when we need it.”

Outside of work, the Trompetter family has been excited to explore the nature that Invercargill has to offer.

“I think Invercargill punches above its weight for outdoor activities. I’m hoping to get some mountain biking in at Bluff Hill and explore the region.”
