Davis Food Ingredients Company Ltd has recalled all batches and all dates of its poppy seeds. They were incorrectly sold directly to consumers instead of sold as an ingredient for food production. The recall covers all Davis Food Ingredients, Attitude Foods, Bin Inn, EssentéFarm By Nature, Foodfirst, Fresh Line, Icelandic and Wholesale Foods brands of black poppy seeds.
The Icelandic brand was sold at Gilmours Palmerston North, and all remaining brands were sold at various supermarkets, produce stores and other retail outlets throughout the country.
There is no evidence that the product is unsafe to use, and retailers can repack the seeds into their own packaging and in-store labelling if they choose too. Customers should return the product for a full refund.
