Kiwi dog food brand TUX has celebrated its 70th birthday.
After seven decades of keeping dogs fueled and ready for action, TUX has returned its iconic advertising jingle from the 90s.
Through the decades, Kiwis have been singing along to the tune as they feed their dogs TUX to keep them ‘fit as a fiddle and sharp as a knife’. They can continue to do so as the new TUX TV ad tells the story of a small but brave city dog’s eventful first day on the farm.
Legendary musician and composer Murray Grindlay wrote the original brand jingle in the 1990s.
“I’ve written many jingles in my time, but this is easily a favourite. I wanted to nod to the Kiwi man’s best friend – the humble farm dog. Their days are busy and full on, and TUX is the perfect fuel to keep them nourished and well-fed,” said Grindlay.
“I’m so pleased the song had such an impact and is making a return, because now, ‘at the end of the day, when the sky turns red, Kiwi dogs everywhere are well-fed’ by TUX.”
The dog food brand has also partnered with another Kiwi brand, Mr Vintage, to continue the celebrations with a limited edition range of birthday merchandise, including T-shirts, bucket hats, surf caps, sweatshirts, and tote bags, all sporting the familiar logo featuring snippets from the jingle.
”70 years of fueling dogs across New Zealand is a huge milestone. Our TUX birthday merch and nostalgic advertising jingle is set to have Kiwi dog lovers singing along while spending time with their furry friends,” said Nestlé Purina New Zealand Head of Marketing Mark White.
TUX anniversary merchandise is available this September.
