The Inspired Unemployed Boys Bring Beer to NZ

The brainchild of Instagram legends Matt Ford and Jack Steele and business partner Nick Cogger (owner of Melbourne-based Torquay Beverage Company), Better Beer has been going gangbusters since launching in Aussie last year and is set to see its schooner sales soaring this side of the Tasman too.

The zero-carb, zero-sugar lager is the product of 12 months’ work, which included a four-month (unintended) stint in Queenstown. The first 72 cases of Better Beer will be dropping at a secret Auckland location this week, only to be revealed to those quick enough to pre-order online. Everyone who purchases the beer will also go in the draw to win one of 20 double passes to the official launch party on October 9.

"Just like our lager, we’re absolutely fizzing to kick the doors in and launch Better Beer in NZ with a bang – the mouthgasms are on us,” said Jack Steele.

“It’s not often Aussies are so well received in Aotearoa, and we’ve boiled it down to the fact that we’ll BYO our own beersies. We’re pumped to see what you lovely larrikins think of our first-born. We may be biased, but she’s a bloody beauty.”

“Contrary to popular belief, we actually try to be as healthy as poss, so wanted to make a beer that tastes great but doesn’t have you hurting so much the morning (even if you’ve texted the ex). Better Beer is crisp af and only 87 cals per can, so what can we say except – you’re welcome,” said Jack.

Better Beer is available now at containerdoor.co.nz but will be in supermarkets and liquor stores from October 24 and distributed by DB Breweries.
